"Inspired by a guitar-playing babysitter and weary of piano lessons, Rich Niebaum began playing guitar at age 8 with a $26 toy instrument. He went on to accompany his parents' bluegrass/gospel ensemble of friends, spent a few years playing in rock 'n' roll bands, and ended up in music school at the University of Kansas. Unconventional to the core, Niebaum took his guitar out of standard tunings while completing his degree and found a style and sound all his own."
